FED:Return to surplus in 2012-13 'responsible': Wong

Finance Minister PENNY WONG says Labor believes returning the budget to surplus in
2012/13 is the responsible thing to do .. despite an expected 13 billion dollar revenue
shortfall this financial year.

Treasury has forecast a 3.1 billion dollar surplus in 2012/13 .. despite this year's
forecast 41.5 billion dollar deficit blowing out due to natural disasters in Australia
and Japan.

Ms WONG's told ABC television .. getting the budget back to surplus is important for
the economy .. and despite short-term challenges .. including the drop in revenue and
a softness in the economy .. there's an investment boom .. particularly in the resources
sector.
