TROY REPUBLICANS LOOK TO GAIN MORE SEATS ON THE CITY COUNCIL.(Capital Region)

With victories the past two years in the sheriff's and district attorney's races, and an embattled Democratic Party leader under investigation, Jude Clemente and the city Republicans have their eyes on a prize that has eluded them for a dozen years: the Troy City Council.

This year, the Troy GOP is hoping to gain more than the one seat it has been able to scrounge on the nine- member council.

Several Republicans have spent the past year maintaining a very high profile - rallying protesters, filing lawsuits and launching monthly assaults at the City Council. At the same time, they have insisted they are acting independently.
